A plane can be a geoplane?!?!!
Hello everyone!!! We are at the halfway point of Recursilandia! Today I bring you a didactic proposal as always... to work on geometry! In addition, with this resource you can introduce geometric concepts and at the same time, review them.
I am talking about... GEOPLANE! This resource is made of wood or other resistant material and it is very old, it dates back to 1960 and it was created by the Egyptian mathematician Caleb Gattegno, because this mathematician was looking for a new method to teach geometry in a more manipulative way... Caleb would have been a perfect fan of Recursilandia! Before going into the types of geoplanes, I'll show you a picture so you know what they are about.
Moreover, there is not only one geoplan... There are several! For you to understand it better and in a more visual way, I leave here a video of our partner Malena.
What use can we give to the geoplane? For example, we can form different geometric figures using the rubber bands and following a template, discover the relationship between surface-volume, understand the concepts of geometric areas and planes... The geoplane produces a cognitive construction through group activities, also favouring many internal values.
I hope you liked this resource and that you put it into practice in your classes! And you know... the recursilandia blog gives you the resources and you.... You give life to those resources!😉
